WBAP Schedule

New programming schedule announced on WBAP this mornig . . .

5:00 - 8:00 Morning News with Hal, Amy and Steve
8:00 - 9:00 Hal Jay and Mark Davis Show
9:00 - 10:45 Mark Davis Show
10:45 - 11:00 Paul Harvey

Rest of the day remains the same . . . everything just starts and hour earlier.

Any thoughts???

Wow, WBAP caved to the pressure of all the dittoheads and hannity nation wackos to run the shows in real time.

I remember receiving a letter from Tyler Cox saying essentially "give it up: 'Hello Texas!' is the top rated show in the Metroplex. No amount of protesting, letter writing, or demonstrations will get Rush on live." when WBAP first got Limbaugh's show.

When they dropped Hello Texas, I thought it was a mistake not to run Rush and Sean live. Mark Davis doing a talk show at the end of morning drive will be interesting.

How so? With every waning liberal in town crashing their cars into the overpass retaining wall? :))

Maybe it's me, but does home of the country porch witticisms, Hal Jay really create great on-air chemistry with the mercurial banter of Mark Davis. Personally, I got my AM dial tuned in for this extravaganza.

Good times indeed.

When is the new schedule effective?

I think it's the right move by WBAP to air Rush & Sean live. Too bad they have to air Levin live instead of being able to air a local show from 5p-7p.

So what happens at night? Does something get an extra hour or are they picking up something else? I wonder if they will do something stupid like pick up one of Mark Davis's hours from 11:00-midnight?

I'm with 'ya VDV....

This could be very interesting...Good ole' Hal's sweet tea, BBQ, and beer persona
mixed with Davis' bug spray and battery acid......

In a battle of wits, Hal has Mark pummelled to a pulp...

I say bring back Natural Howard!......... :D

All this starts Monday.

They are going to run the same two evening shows they have on now but will flip the order.

Might be fun. Mark seems to get stories out of Hal no one else seems to be able to.

Forgive the ignorance behind this question: I read elsewhere on Radio-Info that Mark Davis' national show is no longer in syndication. Does this mean the stations that carried his show don't carry it now, and is that what precipitated 'BAP's decision to revamp its schedule?

It will be nice to have Hal counter balance Mark. It will certainly make up for the lack of entertainment on otherwise boring show.

Im wondering if this is being done to counter Ernie & Jay on KRLD, as their show seems to have both topical product and witty banter....

Ernie & Jay have terrible ratings.
I think WBAP wants to be "live all day" so if there is a huge, breaking news story rush and hannity won't be an hour behind the curve.

Second the motion on Levin. He's a one trick pony, not informative or entertaining.

No. Mark's show was syndicated in anticipation of O'Reilly quitting his show. I hear the straw that made them want to carry Rush & Hannity live was back when the Virginia Tech shootings happened and their newscasts & those shows weren't in sync about what was going on. Things moved slowly because of the Citadel deal and other contracts.

They should bring back Dick Siegel with his AIDS jokes...

Hal and Mark have had a couple of weeks working together now. You guys got any opinions on how it's working?

I'm liking it. It's showing a different side of both guys. Hal is weighing in with opinions and Mark is getting to show more of his humorous side.

What do ya think?
