WBAP video of 96.7 simulcast

I watched it. Very well done, except for that weird guy in the end! Just kidding, Rick. It was good to see what went on behind the scenes that morning. I was listening on the way to Waco that morning on the FM side. It sounded great to me. Good job!

Actually, it is always kind of weird to see the faces for the first time behind familiar radio voices. Sort of like meeting in person for the first time people you have interacted with online through message boards or by email. Nobody ever looks like you expect them to.

I'm curious - has the old WBAP cowbell somehow managed to survive at the station through various ownership and studio changes? I'm too young to have heard it on the air - but I have read about it.

So we can agree that it's a good video, but it could have used a little more cowbell?

Sure, why not? They could not only bring back the cowbell, they could have REALLY gone retro on this. They could have kept the KPMZ format and call letters intact and just had WBAP and KPMZ swap frequencies every three hours. Mark Davis could sign his show off every day by telling listeners to switch over to the FM for Rush. And they could get Rush to record a track that would air at the end of his show telling everyone to follow WBAP to the AM dial for Sean. And every time WBAP switches over to its other frequency, the top of the hour news announcer could ring the cowbell.

Now THAT would be radio history! Wouldn't do much for ratings, I'm sure. But it sure would make for a REALLY cool video!

And condolences go out to Rick Hadley and his family. Rick lost his dad over the weekend.

Rick, that was a scream and also a testament to how anticlimactic changeovers like that really are in radio.

Sure makes me miss Dallas and my good old days on KLIF getting murdered by you guys.
