WBAW PEMBROKE UPDATE

Wanted to see if anyone had any additional information regarding the status of the new 100k watt station. I see the CP expires in April. Has anyone traveled out 280 around Daisy in Evans county and seen any construction? I'm assuming the tower will be new because I never saw 1000 foot tall towers out in that direction and according to the FCC, this tower will be actually in Evan county between Claxton and Pembroke in a small town called Daisy. This is about 30 miles west of all the tv towers off of 204 in Bryan county.

Allendale SC is running the FM from Barnwell for some reason. ONLY THING is there is no license to do so..............

The Barnwell operation has ended, as in actuality there is NO license to operate from there. There is a religious station now licensed for that though it is not on the air now.

Big question I have is will it actually get built this time around?

If so, who wants a Savannah rimshot? Probably won’t cover the Lowcountry worth a hoot, but should be a decent signal in the Savannah suburbs.

Isn't WSVH over in Pembroke? I wouldn't define that as a Savannah Rim Shot at 100K watts but maybe I'm wrong. Is it suggested a new tower would be constructed or would the tower that houses WSVH also house WBAW?

Personally I think it's long overdue. Low Country gets competition from Charleston as well. Savannah centric station with a focus on Bulloch and Liberty counties would seem like a better option. Of course, it all depends on the format.

It is. They moved about 10 years ago from the tower they were on in Pooler to the WVAN-TV tower in Pembroke. They are at 1400' at 100kW.

This new allocation was originally for around 800' at 100kW from a (then) unbuilt site west of Pembroke as a C1.

Something tells me they could easily get in touch with GPB to let them rent some tower space. I think GPB can use the consistent rental money these days. They'd be stuck with about 15-20kW if they could get towards the top. THAT would put an OK signal into Savannah and most of Beaufort County.
