WBBM to lose the Bears

Maybe WKSC should become the Bears flagship station.

The title is a little misleading. WBBM didn't "lose the Bears." They just didn't renew the contract for carriage after the end of the season, because it wasn't profitable to keep them. Therefore, it was a business decision, and those occur in radio on a daily basis.

Around the NFL, teams have been moving their broadcasts to active or classic rock stations for the last few years, and I think this could favor 95.5. they would definitely need to keep the current broadcast team together.
KC did the opposite. LEFT a classic rocker for country.

Based on what I'm seeing around the country, my bet is on WCHI.

In the last few months iHeart has picked up radio rights for NFL teams in Charlotte, Milwaukee, and Miami, and put the games on either classic rock or some form of rock stations.

How about WKSC picking up the Bears radio broadcasts?

Never heard anymore about the Downers Grove transmitter site being for sale by Disney since early January. No FCC filings that I can see for relocation. Your FM simulcast is 100.3 HD 2. Maybe Good Karma will buy a major FM and put their money into that rather than building out a new AM 1000 transmitter site. Time will tell.

Me, too. Thought for sure there'd at least be an FM simulcaster.

I can only assume the Bears like being able to reach a broad geographic area with one signal. Either that, or Good Karma gave them one helluva deal.

or maybe selling it to iHeart or Cumulus or Hubbard

Agreed. If nothing changes, Dah Bears would be the only NFL team not on FM in their home city (*)

*I did not update my lists for the 2022 season.

In Cleveland I believe the Browns are on Good Karma's 850 WKNR but also on Audacy's 92.3 and 98.5 so maybe something like this follows.

It would hurt the female numbers. Rock is mostly a male format.

Also WKSC trends younger, while the football audience is a bit older.

WCHI is perfect. A male format that trends slightly older.
Considering that iHeart, by winning the Packers rights, put a big hurt on Good Karma is Milwaukee, I would be surprised is they hooked up with iHeart for the Bears. I do agree, however, that an FM signal will come into play.
