WBBM to lose the Bears

I'll be darned. Didn't they used to air on Cumulus-owned 97 Rock?

One benefit of airing on 550 WGR is good reception across much of the Toronto and Hamilton, ON metro areas.

Around the NFL, teams have been moving their broadcasts to active or classic rock stations for the last few years, and I think this could favor 95.5. they would definitely need to keep the current broadcast team together.
What do NFL teams find attractive about the format, beyond demos?

What do NFL teams find attractive about the format, beyond demos?
It's not as much the NFL as it is the stations with the money to pay the NFL to carry it. The stations pay the NFL to carry the games. In return, they charge a lot of money for advertising and are able to because advertisers want to be associated with those games. They want something that fits their demo, and the NFL fits the rock demo just fine.

Do the teams playing on Thursday night have OTA TV in their home market?
Both teams' home markets get the games OTA, but not adjacent markets. Same as with Monday Night Football, but not necessarily on the same station. Amazon has its own deals.

TSN also carries the Amazon games in Canada, part of its deal for all prime-time games and a Sunday afternoon doubleheader. Co-owned CTV also has a Sunday afternoon doubleheader, and since satellite (and some cable) viewers can access all CTV affiliates, it's close to having Sunday Ticket, which different games on different channels.

I think depending on the relationship they have with Mother Hubbard, Good Karma may strike up a simulcast deal with, most likely 97.1 The Drive beginning next season.

Considering that iHeart, by winning the Packers rights, put a big hurt on Good Karma is Milwaukee, I would be surprised is they hooked up with iHeart for the Bears. I do agree, however, that an FM signal will come into play.
So I was thinking that something might come up before the start of the regular season but it looks like they are only going with an HD subchannel for FM. Very surprised.

It will be a while before the new facility is on the air. Late 2024 is probably the optimistic case.
