WBBQ AUGUSTA....considered EXTREMELY SOFT AC?

I was comparing WBBQ to other AC's and man....how long do I have to listen to this station before I can hear SOMETHING from at least the last 15 years! I live, now in ATL and sometimes listen to 98.5 WSB and I've recently also listened to WTCB in Columbia and WSPA in Greenville/Spartanburg. WBBQ seems like they're scared of playing anything too modern.

Here's an example of the order of songs I've heard on 104.3 WBBQ just a few weeks ago.........
(check out the HUGE difference between this list and what the other AC's are playing)

(WBBQ)
The Supremes Where Did Our Love Go
Kool & The Gang Get Down On It
Sheryl Crow Soak Up The Sun
Ben E. King Stand By Me
Billy Joel She's Got A Way
Tavares Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel
Rupert Holmes The Pinacilada Song
Lionel Richie Hello
America Sister Golden Hair
Gwen Stefani The Sweet Escape
Jeffrey Osborne Stay With Me Tonight
Rita Coolidge Higher And Higher
Commodores Sail On
Heatwave Always And Forever
Samantha Sang Emotion
Howard Jones No One Is To Blame
Michael Mcdonald Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Snow Patrol Chasing Cars
Wild Cherry Play That Funky Music
Steve Perry Oh Sherrie

........out of 20 or so songs only a few were by somewhat current artists!

Now, here's an example of the playlists from the other AC's

(combination of WSPA, WTSB and WSB)
Fergie Big Girls Don't Cry
Daughtry Feels Like Tonight
Sara Bareilles Love Song
Celine Dion Thats The Way It Is
Alicia Keys No One
Colbie Caillat Bubbly
Jordin Sparks Tattoo
Elton John Tiny Dancer
Timbaland Apologize
James Blunt Carry You Home
Gwen Stefani The Sweet Escape
Amy Stewart Knock On Wood
Daughtry Home
Plain White T's Hey There Delilah
John Mayer Waiting On The World To Change
Fray How To Save A Life
Al Green Let's Stay Together
Leona Lewis Bleeding Love
Donna Summer I Will Survive
Natasha Bedingfield Unwritten

..........seems these guys have the hipper AC station......

MUSICALLY, IS AUGUSTA ALWAYS IN THE DARK?!

WSB-FM has to conduct a litmus test before a current is added (Cox corporate policy). Other than that, an AC that plays No Doubt's "Hella Good" and "It's My Life", Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping", Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life" (with drug references intact) and every Kelly Clarkson song released (except from her latest album, which no one is playing) is one I would rather listen to than one that puts the Nyquil people out of business. That is one reason WLTM 94.9 (the longtime "Peach") is no longer in existance. (The other is inept Clear Channel management).

Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape" is not soft by any stretch of the imagination. If features rapper Akon. The top 40 stations have played it ad-nausem for the past two years.

Atlanta radio is also musically in the dark...check out the Atlanta board and you will see why.

And it would be an AC that would be hotter than Mainstream AC, about to the point of Hot AC. (Yes, I know some Mainstream ACs play those, not they're in the minority, especially with respect to "Hella Good.")

Indeed. A station playing some of those titles would probably be listed in the Hot AC. category.
