WBBQ

A new WBBQ exhibit opens at The August History Museum. Read all about in GRHOF News at www.grhof.com!

I believe WBBQ noted it's golden milestone beginning last year. Too bad Cumulus axed its award winning news department when they took over and Clear Channel finished off the gutting of the station (as well as sister WZNY).

Amen to that! Does anyone know if the morning hosts (Murphy, Sam, and Jodi) are local or voice tracked?

I believe they are out of Light AC outlet KRVE in Baton Rouge, LA.

WLTY tried them in Columbia when they existed as a Light AC and it failed. Since WBBQ has no competition since WSLT became WHHD, they are #1 by default.

You are correct about them being out of Baton Rouge. When WLTY ran that program, I found it to be very boring and that might have been one of the many pitfalls of that station because we could use a Lite AC station here in the Columbia market if it were run correctly

grhof; thanks for the heads up about the WBBQ exhibit....i was just thinking that that station would be a good example for people to use when arguing for re-regulation of radio. a giant in the community with an incredible news presence, especially for a top forty station, now reduced to just a "brand." A good example of what happens when you allow the owners to disregard their listeners, obligations, and communities.
