WBBQ's Buddy Carr airchecks on Youtube.

Posted this on the Georga board, but is worthwhile here as well as WBBQ's studio's were in North Augusta for many years.

While I was browsing around, I've came across this series of airchecks of WBBQ's Buddy Carr:

Listening to these airchecks makes me sad how radio in Augusta has become. I've missed out on the Buddy Carr-era of WBBQ, but listened to Marc Summers quite a bit in the late 80s and early 90s.

Buddy Carr was one of the BEST morning guys i've ever heard. When I first heard his "Squirrel Jokes" I nearly ran off the road I was laughing so hard. If you're on Facebook, there's a Buddy Carr Tribute page. Thanks for the aircheck links.

I was fortunate to know and hang out with Buddy in the mid 70's. He was just as funny off the air as on and maintained his quick wit continuously. He would visit us at WAUG after hours, to keep Harley at bay, and was constantly telling jokes to the wee hours of the morning and then go over to BBQ to do his morning shift. He was a pranskter and enjoyed having someone get one over on him. The stories to be told.....I think of him often and miss his on air presence as well as his friendship. There will never be another Buddy Carr............

I grew up listening to Buddy Carr and Mark Summer, and had the honor of following Mark hosting mornings on Augusta's (then) CHR, WZNY (Y 105). Their era was a MAGICAL time in Augusta radio history. I caught those airchecks on Youtube a few months back and shared them on my Facebook page and got a lot of feedback on them. What a trip back in time (and a MUCH better time in Augusta radio history!)
