WBBV/KLSM

Does anyone know exactly what's going on? The newspaper told me that KLSM was given back to Holladay Broadcasting, seems they're running it from Monroe now, audio link sounds like hell. It also seems that WBBV is sitting running on autopilot with no staff.

Paper also said that Holladay hired away all the staff in the midst of a court battle to take back possession due to a defaulted promissory note.

It's called the Debut Shuffle..You pay alot for stations, then give your inventory away, now that formula will break you fast.Plus you have to remember to make those note payments.Looks like they're up the "River" without a paddle.Paid over a mil for Greenville stations and sold at a fire, anytakers please, sale for 250K. Now i'm just a dumb ass eng that happens to have a Marketing and Finance Degree.2 words for Debut 'MARKET RESEARCH'.

For the length of time it took to put klsm on the air I think the audio link sounds pretty good.

Ditto,

It is a simple POTS Codec and the best we can do. Nothing high speed is available at TX site. At least we are feeding it with totally uncompressed source material.

I surely didnt' realize it was a POTS codec, indeed not bad for that. If ya'll need high speed over at the site I can throw in a wireless link off the courthouse in vicksburg, contact me at my day job, newbreak communications 601-456-0556

from where the site is over there, I only need to be up about 60 ft.

I do. I drove past it while the antenna was being hoisted up.

I will look at the exact distance today when I get to the office, I can do p2p wireless up to 25 miles at 12+mbps.

Call 6014560556 later or email stephen (at) newbreakcommunications.com for my cell #

Will do. I will chat with my owner today when he gets back.

Hell, If I did a point to point 320k MP3 stream, it would sound way better.

depending on what hardware you have available, and if you have enough upstream over there at the studio, you could do FLAC...

station I take care of in Vicksburg is running 48khz FLAC to the transmitter site. I know, I know its not needed, comrex bric-link defaults to 48 on analog audio, only way to change that is to feed it with aes at the sample rate you want.

I have 100 Meg bidirectional here for the building.

Our box at the TX (Comrex) has a Cat 5 on it, so I am *assuming* that if I give it IP, it will give me a much higher quality connection and fall back to the phone if the network fails.

My owner/GM has been out of town and got back late today, so I should let you know tomorrow.

And thank you very much for the offer.

This has been quite an experience for all of us.

I would squeeze it some. I host my own streams on that pipe (servers & encoders), plus house internet, etc... I have it broken up into lots of 10 Meg segments for different tasks.

I can probably allocate 5 meg for this project, maybe 10.
