WBCB AM is still on the air serving bucks burlington and mercer county. Sadly though WBCB is automated half of the time now. Its live from 6 am weekdays till 5pm then if the phillies arent playing it goes to automation till the next morning. Saturdays bcb is live from 9 am till 1 then goes automated till 6 the is live until midnight unless the phils ae playing, Sundays with the exception of the Phillies its totally automated , and in the automation is a recorded broadcast of Calvary Church around 10am.
All of these changes are a result of the pandemic, but some of this has been happening for a while. Its sad that the live and local 24/7 format has come to an end in favor of automation, i hope that this isnt a sign of a sale down the road to a religious , catholic or spanish or ethnic lanuage broadcaster who will turn the station into another outlet featuring a format that is already heard on 1000s of other stations around the usa that you can pick up on the internet or dxing..
Remember WBUD AM in Trenton Ewing 15 years or so ago did the same thing automated the station most of the time, and claimed they are just scaling back a little, only for them to be sold to catholic broadcasters 2 years later and becoming a non player in the market with the same format heard on a lot of stations.
I hope and pray that WBCB isnt headed in that same direction, they are legendary in their high school sports coverage and sports coverage in general and have great vibrant personalities, it would be sad to see it go, I hope it can be saved and returned to live and local status, it would be a travesty to lose the last local outlet that cares for mercer bucks and burlington counties.
