WBCN Back?

HD-2 is now freeform104. Sam Kopper is programming it. Don't know if that means the end of "Sam's Jams" on the weekend on 95.9 WATD though. HD-3 is now Indie 104.1 which the id's still say "HD-2" on.

Hmmm... have they been multicasting long, or has this just started?

Considering the hub-bub about a NOW or AMP style solution for CBS in Boston, one needs to wonder if a situation is going to arise similar to what happened with 99X and Q100 in Atlanta? Might this be a precursor to moving the entire alternative operation into the Multicast realm and putting a CHR on the HD-1 to compete with Kiss?

Granted there were some different politics at play with that switch, but the similarity and timing are intriguing and not without precedent.

Always fun to go to a station website and have a hard time finding any info on HD channels there.

Seems like the Indie 104-1 on HD3 is in mono, which makes sense, since they're obviously splitting up the bandwidth even more now. For some reason, the HD3 is having trouble staying locked in. The main HD1 signal and the HD2 seem fine, which is strange.

The Freeform 104-1 does seem to have a very wide variety of music, and does seem to bring back the classic sound of the early days of WBCN.

I don't see why it should. Sam is a multitasker. He's been valuable for WATD, and he enjoys their local community service radio style. I've heard many hosts on WATD over the years who have had gigs on other stations at the same time, so it doesn't seem like they would have a problem with it.

I doubt that WBCN/CBS would see his weekly show on an independent South Shore station as a conflict with their HD-2, but I guess you never know.

WBCN's "Indie 104" multicast has been on for at least a year now.

When WZLX changed their HD-2 from "Lost Classics and Deep Tracks" to their Blues channel "Radio Mojo", I was hoping they would put "Lost Classics" back on an additional multicast, but it sounds like "Freeform 104.1" will fill the bill instead.

Probably the HD-3 is extented hybrid mode at 24 kbps for the HD3. kinda OTA , which sounds better for WBZ News radio 1030; WBZ-HD 1030AM or WODS-HD3?

There's something wrong with the automation here. Occasionally the same song is played twice in a row. I heard this happen once last week, and again today.

And it just happened again. That's twice in the same hour.

And again. Third time I've heard it happen this afternoon. Obviously a recurrent glitch. Not just an isolated intermittent...

The Indie 104 livestreams sounds very, very overmodulating and distorted at the moment?

Someone already find out what the URL is for the Free Form 104 livestream??

The Indie 104.1 livestreams sounds normal but the audio is to soft at the moment.

Edit: I hear it's fixed ;)

Still no livestream for Free Form 104.1 yet :-\
