WBCN goes all sports

Really? 3 AM sports stations in Charlotte?? Just a little bit ridiculous. This is not a big sports own like Boston or New York. Stupid move.

There's not much difference between a political talk station that no one listens to and a sports talk station that no one listens to.
Except for "the co-branding" with WFNZ, maybe.

Yes, almost as stupid as CBS running that goofy HD signal on their AM stations. WFNZ's audience has been eroding for years, do they really another Sports format is going to help.

However it is "CBS Sports" so I'm guessing their not paying much (if anything) for the service.

I agree their are too many "sports" outlets in Charlotte, but keep in mind other than the NFL and NBA teams, you've got the ECHL, UNC-Charlotte, Davidson, the International League's Charlotte Knights, and those who follow the ACC, but what's missing?, a FM signal for this format.

What do you expect? With the masterminds running those stations? They can't even get traffic reports on the air. Half the time you get a traffic bed running by itself for 30 seconds and no reporter.LOL

I laugh when I read this quote from Lanny Ford: “We’re not going to do anything different." This from soneone who has had the format flipped on AM 1350 in Asheville more times in the last dozen years or so.

Quite funny how the signal from this station always comes through very well east of Charlotte. Too bad such a disconnect from what listeners really want..

If you don't have an established AM station by now forget it. I can't think of any new AM stations that have any ratings to speak of. Also I can't think of any station above 1600 that has any ratings.
