Since WBCN went off the air, these are the observations I've made about area "rock" stations:
88.9 WERS: Pretty much stayed the course.
91.9 WUMB: Becoming a folky-triple A fueled by NPR music and Boston-area DJs. I wish they had a better signal.
92.5 WXRV: Seems to be adding more newer music to their mix
92.9 WBOS: Still mostly an alternative hits jukebox, but throws in the occasional Bon Jovi, Ozzy, AC/DC, or Aerosmith track for color. Also seemed to drift a tiny bit into Hot AC territory.
100.7 WZLX: Seemed to stay the course, although they've adopted the late WBCN's Nocturnal Emissions
101.7 WFNX: At the time WBCN went off the air, FNX was dabbling into hipster-friendly classic rock fare, while mixing in the occasional ****-rock song from Shinedown or Finger Eleven. They've since drifted back to truer alternative/indie, although they are quite repetitive.
105.7 WROR: Stayed the same.
As I said, just some of my observations.
