WBCN promotes on their website that they stream some Patriots games.

I fell for it on October 12 and I fell for it again tonight (11/2).

The pre-game ends and they return to music.

Anyone else have this problem?

If so, shouldn't WBCN remove this from their website?

GO PATS!

Again?

So, where's the lie? They say they stream SOME games. They didn't say ALL games.

(Not sure what the rule is on this. Is it the same as the local-blackout rule for TV?)

Oct 12th was a Sunday night game (vs. San Diego), correct? Maybe there are rights issues on Sunday's (probably Monday's, too) in which they can't carry those games.

Yeah, and I took my son to McDonald's because they said some locations have play areas - but the one we went to didn't! McDonald's LIES AGAIN!!!

My guess is that the NFL's national contract Westwood One exclusive broadcast rights for SNF & MNF.

Seeing as the Pats are NFL darlings, they get a lot of those games.

Whomever runs the regular SNF probably got the game

WBCN is not allowed to stream the games except for a couple of exceptions that the league allows. It is not up to them they would love to but it would violate their contract with the NFL which sells such content.

dumber, reading,

Go look at the WBCN webpage. See what dates are featured that they claim to stream.

The next one (snicker) is Nov. 13. I won't be falling for it.

GO PATS!

Maybe this is a good lie, Because Alot of McDonald's dont clean there play areas ( Kids vomit, Trash, and dirty diapers ) .

The NFL offers live streaming video of Sunday night games, so maybe that's why WBCN wasn't able to stream Gil and Gino. Try again when they play a day game against the Bills on Sunday.

Ain't what it says, bub. The only thing they have posted is the game schedule. Nowhere does it say that's also the streaming schedule.

Nail on the head.....

From what I found online no station is allowed to stream any Westwood One game. They carry a triple header on Sundays as well as Monday night (and I think Thursday night) football. So the one 1pm and one 4pm game they pick each sunday as well as the night games must all be off limits for streaming.

So who was playing the WW1 version of the game in Boston then?

No one, it's blacked out locally when the Pats are one of the WW1 games.

Basically the stream gets cut so that some Pats fan outside of the market HAS to find a WW1 station rather than stream it from WBCN.

When the Pats aren't one of the WW1 games then WEEI typically carries them I believe.

Here is a bit more of a description from my good friend wikipedia....

Westwood One's package includes two weekly Sunday afternoon games, the Sunday Night Football game, the Monday Night Football game, the Thanksgiving Day games, late-season Saturday games, all Thursday night games (beginning in 2006), the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, all playoff games, the Super Bowl, and the Pro Bowl. These games are distributed throughout the United States and Canada, but blacked out in the markets of the competing teams.

and the WW1 sched which may help you see which games won't be streamed....

What the hell is the point of blacking it out in the markets of those teams?!

Because WW1 pays millions to have the rights to the "national" games (the sunday triple header and any night games).....and since all streams are "national" any streams would take away from their broadcast. So no one can stream a game WW1 is carrying....if it's a non WW1 game then the stream is fine. So if you live in the market of one of the two home teams you can listen to the broadcast....if not you need to find the WW1 stream/broadcast somewhere. It's not really that odd if you think about it.
