WBCN - O&A Vacation? - Toucher & Rich Takeover

Opie, in typical fashion, spent a bit of time on the XM show Friday complaining that the PD "just doesn't know radio" and "this is not how you build an audience." (both paraphrased)

T&R should be able to pull it off, after all Ron and Fez do it everyday.
 
My prediction - T&R's audience will be less than or equal to O&A's audience. The all shock morning zoo format died with Stern.

BCN is either going to have to go all sports or fill the rap hole.
 
Am I the only one that thinks that T&R are a one trick pony? I mean - every show sounds just like the one the did the day before - make fun of aldalpho, rave about drinking and getting smashed, and discuss topics usially reserved for lunch hour at junior high schools. At least Howard and (on occasion) O&A can talk (sometimes intellegently) on news and current events.

I'm no Carrie fan (never been) - but I will happily switch to her show just because I'm just so board with listening to T&R discuss the rules to the "Saved by the bell drinking game" every week.

I'm still waiting for a show to blow me away like O&A did back on their early days on 'AAF - original and creative radio that could make you say "wow" (no pun intended!). The stuff O&A used to do was genious, even if you didn't like it - you had to respect what they did- now - you hardly find anything like that on the air - even O&A have got stale (and their ratings show it too).

BrklynDOn I know you're a little one track minded when it comes to many things but in case you hadn't noticed in light of the Imus debacle, rap is about the least desireable format to be in these days from a corproate perspective. When you have everyone trying to justify what Imus said as an extension of "hip hop culture" and rap lyrics being scrutinized worse than metal lyrics were back in the days of Tipper Gore's PMRC crusade?....

Yeah maybe you want to re think that " their only hope is to fill the rap hole" theory.
 
Vacation during Spring book?

Can't figure out how you would allow any morning show to schedule a vacation during the Spring Book. Though not as critical as Fall, but it does set the station up (for buyers) for the Fall. Strange. ???

Because their ratings sucked in Dallas, and they wanted to go not do anything about it?

How are T and R doing with the Iron-man shifts?

Yes, I read the thread. They are off Nationally, most stations running "best/worst" of, yaddy yadda.

However, it doesn't make sense to allow a Morning show, whether National or Local, good or bad, to schedule a vacation during a critical rating period. That's all. I've never seen that done before.
