Like many of you I have checked the PPMs of Boston radio, and noticed that BCN was the ONLY CBS radio station not in at least ONE noteworthy top 5 list (overall, 18-34, 25-54). My brother, described on another thread (the disco show thread, FYI) as a metalhead, was p***ed to holy Hanna-Barbera about the April Fool's flip and asked me why. I told him about the 2 CBS stations which made the flip to top 40 in New York and L.A., and told him to relax - for at least one more year. It's not as if he doesn't have other options already, like 'FNX, Mix, Kiss (which I haven't listened to since the 20th anniversary retrospective back in '99) and the 'AAFs on the current side (those 4 plus 'BCN pretty much share at least 50% of the same songs; I revolted upon hearing very little besides No Doubt, Green Day, Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray and that unintelligle Chumbawamba song back in '97/'98 and flipped to 'RKO and 'EEI then until Star from '99 to '05 and back to 'RKO/'EEI since) plus classic rockers 'ROR, 'ZLX, Mike, Oldies lately and Mix on weekends (under the title "Whatever Weekends", where it basically plays the same Led Zep, Who, Stones, CCR, Doors, Mac, Floyd, Eagles, Aero, VH and AC/DC as siblings 'ZLX and Oldies and ignores non-rock).
Anyway, I'm predicting that by this time next year, 'BCN will be top 40 with a more mainstream top 40 format than Kiss. Although I looked at Kiss' most recent top 30 (only 3 out of 30 I'd call rock, namely Matt Nathanson, The Fray and All-American Rejects), I suspect that a lot of their real hitmakers are those like Chris Daughtry, Jason Mraz, Nickelback, Plain White T's, Fall Out Boy, The Offspring, Shinedown, Lily Allen, Coldplay and 3 Doors Down, especially since most of Kiss' top 30 are also on Jam'n, a situation that NEVER should occur. In short, I think that 'BCN can easily wipe up Kiss 108 in the Spring of '10.
BTW, if I was in charge of Kiss, I'd restrict Jam'n artists like Flo Rida, T.I., T-Pain, Lady Gaga and Britney to Jam'n so that people can tell Jam'n apart from Kiss.
