WBEB in Philly and KOIT, KBAY

I first listened to WBEB-FM during a trip to Philly about 10 years ago. Thanks to the online streaming, I am able to listen to it once again!

As I am listening to WBEB-FM online, these came to mind.....

- The station sounded a lot like a combination of Star 101.3, KOIT and KBAY.
- Their TV spot is ALMOST the same as KOIT. (Same animations)
- In my opinion, better than KOIT!
- WBEB and KOIT owned by same company? (They have same animation in TV spots and both stations have the word "Fresh" at some point in their station ID or slogan)

Any thoughts?

One other thing on my mind,..... WHY can't we have a station like that over here in our market?

WBEB is locally owned in Philly by Jerry Lee who has owned or co-owned it for 40 years from the time it was a self-produced beautiful music station.

The commercials are similar because they are syndicated, like jingles.

Jerry licensed Fresh to keep it from his competitors.

The reason there is not a station like WBWB in SF is that there is only one Jerry Lee, one of America's best broadcasters.

After seeing the first post, I went to thier site and listened on-line for about an hour and a half. It sounded to me like a duplicate of Fresh 102.7. The playlist didn't turn me off, but I could easily tire of it real quick. It sounded like it was automated as commercials, and sweepers got cut off in mid sentence.

The removal of commercials is automated, and is done to comply with advertisers who do not want theri commercials on the web stream.

It wasn't just commercias being interrupted, a heat advisary for Philadelphia was being announced, and in mid sentence, another sweeper cut in then right to a song. It just sounded like a glitch in a computer program.
