WBEN NEWSROOM

Bauerle announced at the top of his show today that newscaster Rachel Kingston is leaving the station today to pursue a career in the television news industry.

He didn't say who she was going to work for, but it begs the question, will her job in the newsroom be filled?

Remember, they didn't fill Barbara Burns' spot when she left 'BEN for a job with the federal government.

I would think losing Barb and Rachel would prompt Entercom to hire a female replacement, but who knows what the corporate bean counters are thinking at 500 Corporate Parkway and beyond.

I wish Rachel well and hope for the sake of Steve Cichon, Dave Debo, Tom Puckett and the part-timers at 'BEN that SOMEONE is hired to help out with preparing and delivering newscasts on the No. 1 AM news/talk AM station in town.

WBEN still has good people on staff. Let's hope they keep them and add to their ranks--Buffalo got used to a quality 24/7 news operation a long time ago and it still deserves one.

Sounds like Neil McManus and Kevin Cupta (sp?) have been getting more airtime weekday evenings on 'BEN.

Don't know if that means just more part-time work for that duo or if one of them has/will be promoted to a full-time position.

Again, would like to hear another female voice other than Susan Rose doing news anchors/reporting since the last two departures were Barb Burns and Rachel Kingston.

What about Mylous Hairston returning to his radio roots?

A pay cut I'm sure, but it's a job and he may enjoy getting out of the newsroom and out in the field, especially if he can land a weekday gig and avoid going back to working Saturday AND Sunday. Yuck.
