WBEN tranmitter site - in good repair?

Just curious - I grew up in WNY, specifically northern Niagara County. WBEN always was strong everywhere up there. Stronger than KB which suffered from skywave cancelation at times.

Anyway, in my visits home WBEN is not what I remember it. Seems weaker and gets some buzzing where the local distribution power lines cross the road (not high tension lines just the regular lines that feed homes on the road).

It could be that the power grid is not aging well - but I'm wondering how the transmitter site is aging and whether it is needing some money pumped in to refresh the ground system, feedlines or whatever.

I have no way of knowing but KB comes in as good as ever now here in North Carolina so I’d say Entercom is probably keeping up the maintenance on their cash cow WBEN. In fact every once in awhile we hear a trace of WGR. No chance we’ll ever hear WBEN, we have a local station on 930.

Power lines are an awful problem in most cities.
