WBEN's Mike Mearian (Buffalo or NYC?)

Does anyone know what ever happened to
Mike Mearian, of Buffalo's WBEN and WBEN-TV?

He had a radio show and was host of
Popeye's Playhouse.

He moved from Buffalo to NYC in about
'64 or '65.

I haven't been able to find out anything
about him, post-Buffalo.

Even in occasional web searches over the
last few years.

Mike has worked in TV and has had small movie roles. He's been primarily a NYC actor. Here's a recent New York appearance, complete with picture.

A Google search returns links to several theatre societies that count Mike as a member.

Wow... that's something.

I don't remember where I looked, but the only
stuff I ever found was about his career in
Buffalo.

Boy does he look old. Hope Mike's staying healthy.

Thanks!

Well, he left WBEN in Buffalo in 1966. That's 40 years ago.

Ain't none of us gettin' any younger...

Wasn't it shortly after that when he started appearing in all the "I'd rather fight than switch" TV and print ads for Tarrington cigarettes? In those he had a black circle around his eye like the Little Rascals' dog as evidence of a fight.

My first memory of Mike goes back to him hosting a kids program on WBEN-TV/Buffalo with his marionette sidekick, Buttons. That's almost 50 years ago.

Okay, we've had 40 and 50-year-old memories. Do I hear 60? Anyone? Anyone?

Wow... I forgot about that.

Buttons the cabin boy! Yes, me, too ... but he had
a good radio show, too.

How about Arthur Mometer on Clint Buehlman's show?

I did a search on radio-locator and was
shocked to see that WEBR was replaced by
an educational AM station. But the biggest
shock is the loss of <s>WKBW</s> WWKB.
