In the lengthy discussions regarding WNED's purchase of WBFO, I don't think this particular issue was brought up. What became of/will become of WBFO's Jazz library?
Were the LPs/CDs included in the sale? If so, does WNED plan to make use of the library in the production of local Jazz programming? Or, are there plans to hold a massive record/CD sale with proceeds going to either WNYPBA or SUNY Buffalo?
Years ago, I made an inquiry as to the fate of the Jazz library of WBSU at SUNY Brockport. I was told that the school donated the library to WGMC in Greece.
On the other hand, I recall WRVO in Oswego running promos for a huge record sale when they decided to get rid of their library of Jazz.
As a Jazz lover, and as a Jazz radio programmer, I would be very interested to learn the fate of the thousands of LPs and CDs that were once an important part of WBFO's programming.
While I'm at it, I'm also curious as to what became of WRUR's Classical library when that station ceased airing Classical music a few years back. Were the albums incorporated into WXXI's existing Classical library?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
