WBGD Brick off-the-air?

This station is run by the Brick Township board of education. The station was once at Brick Township High School, then it moved to Brick Memorial High School. The station was only 10 watts at Brick High in the 80's. Now with the station at 195 watts much more effective coverage area. Maybe the economy hit the board of education. Its a shame if it is off the air. A great place to learn for upcoming broadcasters. I went through the course when there was turntables and carts in use. Still have one aircheck of many broadcasts that I did there.

If the board of ed is not using it, why not sell it and get the funds they need for their district instead of keeping their license for a station not being in use?

Several years back I offered my services to help the school district get this station back on the air legally.
They needed an EAS and Studios. I checked the transmitter It worked, But the Reflected power wsa higher than normal.
I made recommendations. The Educators of the school board did not need my help. I do not know who they ended up hiring
I did visit a year later and sawthat they built new studios, and the kids pre-record their shows. Everything went though some Automation. Nothing was live.
BTW I still did not see an EAS system installed Yet they insisted it was in the studio. These are Educators who think they know radio Better then a Veteran Engineer.College Educated Smart yet No Brains..
My Brother in law is just like them. He has His Masters degrees in Science and Math.. Teaches for the NYC schools... Smart guy.. Does not know how to use a Screwdriver or Hammer...
I would not want my kids going to school in Brick Township. :-\

Back in the 80's they did have a EBS system when the studios were at Brick Township High School. When they switched over to Brick Memorial High School all of the old equipment went there, that was around 1986. After that who knows what happened. If the station was automated back when it was on the air whenever that was, they should have had something installed in terms of an EAS isnt that an FCC requirement. Everything when I was there was all legal, had to take transmitter readings, on the hr ID's, and carts that had legal sign on and sign offs for the broadcasting day.

Technically, since they have been off the air for more than a year the FCC should pull the plug but they still haven't.
