WBGG 970 Pittsburg

Hmm. I don't know anything about this maintenance since I'm not a broadcasting employee, but I often hear this station at night in VA since the nighttime lobe points toward me.

This station has a very complex nighttime pattern (9 tower array!)
It's coverage even here in the local Pittsburgh area is spotty at best.
I live about 10 miles south of the transmitter and often stray signals
from everywhere are walking on them.

Bulls-eye, Radioman148 ...

On Long Island (near Kennedy Airport) WWSW was a steady but really faint catch on that overnight pattern. Of course, C&W local WJRZ had to be off the air for us to have even a fighting DX chance at WWSW.
Pittsburgh's KQV 1410 was another directional nail-biter for our DXing crew ; both WPOP Hartford and WING Dayton had to be absent for KQV to reach we listeners out in the duck farms and marshes. WIXZ 1360 (Rush Limbaugh's alma mater) was another superdirectional Pittsburgh top 40 station, and another stingy signal our way.

Through some alignment of FCC fate, Pittsburgh and the much-closer Hartford both had Top 40 stations battling away on 1360 and 1410.

I remember WWSW best as '3-W-S'. They were Oldies at the time.

Thansxks for the memories, N4GBK!

What about WJAS/WKTQ 1320? During their time as "13Q" they seemed to get a lot of calls from people
listening in Baltimore, New Jersey and points east.

When they were WTAE I had also picked-up Pittsburgh's 1250 at various points up and down the
Eastern Seaboard.
