WBGO Gets $500,000 Donation For Signal Improvement

In the article it says ""We’re not expanding our range, but we’re putting a stronger signal in the same area." But in reality if they move the stick to NYC there will be much greater coverage in NYC and probably western LI. Regardless, even if they moved to a higher tower (NYC) and reduced power, how would that put a stronger signal in the same area? Seems like it would be the same.

The move to Manhattan will also cause a noticeable reduction in signal strength in parts of Central Jersey (especially Western Middlesex & Western Somerset Counties).
 
If BGO wanted better local penetration they'd be leasing tower space on First Mountain in West Orange. The move is to increase their New York coverage, which they hope will create more donors with bigger bucks.
