Thanks for interest in this subject. I'm the General Manager of WBGO.
The antenna and transmitter relocation will take place once we have successfully raised the dollars needed to complete the move. The first phase of the project was FCC approval via Construction permit. This is now done. We have also come to terms with the new location--4 Times Square at 42nd St. and Broadway. We estimate the station's broadcast coverage will be improved or made available to one million people more people across the greater metro area.
Again, our primary need at this moment is for jazz fans, and others, to help us raise the funding needed to complete the project. As a non-commercial station, we depend upon listener contributions/donations for every aspect of station operations.
I am hopeful that the fans of jazz and non-commercial radio in the NYC market will step forward in support of WBGO and jazz music.
