WBIH Channel 29, Selma/Montgomery Alabama Has Gone Digital

That's right everyone.  Dr. Flinn has gone digital with this TV station.  It was off for the past few days.  Now they are back on.  Yeah   I'm assuming that the analog signal is gone for good.  Wish the boring Informericals and Home Shopping would leave, they would pick up the new CW network and finally get some real programming on here.  R.D.P. <><

You assume correctly. WBIH didn't have a paired DTV channel, so they did a flash cut.

They are off again.  Must be doing more work, on their upgrade.  When this new digital channel comes on, I'm assuming the following:1. If you don't have a digital converter, TV or Antenna2. Cable TV and/or The Dish NetworkYou'll be unable to receive this TV station.  R.D.P. <><

Almost. Cable or Dish Network (doesn't DirectTV provide the local stations to Montgomery/Selma?) or digital TV or analog TV with digital converter is required. You don't need a special antenna to receive DTV. ("Anyone who says differently is selling something.")

They are offically back on. Now they ID themselves as: WBIH Channel 29 D(Igital) T(elevision), Montgomery/Selma Alabama, a Flinn Broadcasting Property.R.D.P. <><P.S. They are no longer broadcasting witn an Analog signal.

Did some checking and discovered the following. I was told that I woudn't need a special antenna to get WBIH channel 29, over the air. I went to my den TV and checked on that. When I was with Direct TV, we used an outside antenna to get locals. After I checked, I discovered the following. We were unable to get WBIH's new Digital signal. Went outside to turn the antenna. When I came back in, I was still unable to get WBIH's new Digital Signal.R.D.P. <><P.S. Thanks for sharing your wonderful information with me, Mr. Dhett. Just wanted to pass this new info along, since I was curious and remembered about my Den TV being attached to an outside antenna.

Actually, the antenna info was the FCC's, not mine.Does your Den TV have a digital tuner? If not, you can't get WBIH, regardless of what antenna you have. You must have a digital receiver or converter before you can pick up any DTV station.BTW, "flash cut" means turning the analog signal off and the digital signal on. There will never be an analog signal for WBIH.And you can call me Dave; "Mr. Dhett" sounds waaaaaaay too formal - I'm just a brother from a different mother! (<><)

Thanks for the correction, Dave. This TV set was purchased back in the 1990s. We don't have a digital tuner for it. To be honest, we hardly ever use this set.R.D.P. <><
