WBJX sold

WBJX was sold in some sort of court order, is the station still dark and who is the new owner is he local his name sounds familar.

The host of the "Call in on Crime" show on WJYI-1340 bought the station along wth John Torres. It was announced this morning at 8. The station will be Spanish and English. I don't know if the call letters will stay the same, or not.

That is too bad about WBJX. I've been listening to them on line as that feed is still going. It sounds like they have a wider variety than WDDW. I hope they won't tinker too much with the new format.

I heard Torres is the guy who started Ch 58 WDJT, he is the JT in the call sign.

Torres and his late wife started the process to get WDJT on the air. When John's wife died, he got help from Weigal Broadcasting. (I think)

Not quite. John had a partnership with Deborah Jackson, who was the controller for WNOV. She passed away after they received the construction permit for channel 58. The call letters stand for: Deborah Jackson and John Torres.

You can read about it on the Milwaukee TV history side page of my website at: http://www.milwaukee-horror-hosts.com/MilwTV.html, and in another format sometime in the future...

There is an article regarding WBJX in this week's issue of the El Conquistador newspaper, and you can get a copy of it at the Pick 'n' Save, 18th and National Ave. in the hallway(Nov. 3rd-9th edition) page 4.

I am disabled and can not get there. Is that article on line, or can you sum up what was written? Thanks.

You can call the El Conquistador office at 383-1000, and ask them to mail you a copy of the Nov. 9th issue.

There was another WBJX update this morning on the "Call in on Criime" program at 8-9 over WJYI-1340. They will be getting the new license in three weeks, and the tower will be in Mt. Pleasent, just north of Racine. WBJX plans to be on the air sometime in Jan. 2007.
