WBKI-TV

Can anyone in the Louisville area tell me what is going on at WBKI-DT? I used to pick them up on RF Channel 19 with my OTA Antenna which read out to Channel 34.. I am in Lexington and tonight, I am picking up WBKI-DT on BOTH Channel 19 AND Channel 2. Both refer to Channel 2 and NOT 34. Have they swithched RF channels to 2, which would seem very strange? I searched the FCC site and could find nothing on this.

I had something like this happen on WXIN-59 in Indy some time ago. The TV showed them as being on their "real" digital channel instead of 59. I contacted their Chief Engineer (who was very glad I alerted him) & it was fixed the next day. happened again a time or two...I alerted him each time. After that it was fixed for good.

If you do FM DX as well as TV, could you see if you can hear WYGB 100.3/Edinburgh,IN? Transmitter was relocated about a month ago...looking for reports.

WYGB at 100.3 would be a tough one here in Lexington. We have WKQQ locally on 100.1, but I will try to see if I can hear it tonight. By the way, WBKI was still showing up on channels 19 and 2 this morning. If I tune to RF 19, it reads out as Ch 2, not 34. If I tune to Channel 2, WBKI is right there. I monitor Channel 2 looking for Sporatic E skip. That's how I discovered this yesterday evening.

Bob,

I will try to tune into 100.3 tonight if I remember... I have a RTA that I can rotate north. I'm in Louisville.
That'll be tough unless you have a very selective tuner. 100.5 in Louisville broadcasts HD radio which puts an obnoxious hiss on the adjacent channels, but the hiss only goes to 100.3. A very selective tuner set to about 100.25 might be able to ignore the IBOC noise. Thanks for trying!

I do know they were having a problem last Tuesday and had to bypass the mux. That's probably why you are seeing it on 19, it's on it's "real" channel now. Why you are seeing it on channel 2 is beyond me, however.

OTA reception of WBKI here in Lexington is still reverting to Channel 2, not 34, when I punch in RF Channel 19. There is NO reference to 34 anywhere. My TV was programmed to receive WBKI at Ch 34, but now when punching up 34, there is NOTHING.

All other OTA DTV stations are acting "normally" so I don't think "the problem is in my set".

I've got a Pioneer F-449. It has a IF Band button which changes the bandwidth from normal to 'super narrow'. The MPX mode button (a fancy name for stereo/mono switch). The antenna is in the attic of a two story house with a rotor. I can pick up few Cincinnati stations as well as a few in Lexington.

BTW.. I could not get your 100.3. I was able to filter out 100.5 and all I got was hiss.
I did get Y106 in Columbus.
