Love the dead air on WBLF! Remember when radio stations had people to keep the
sat dishes cleared of snow? Yup, it used to be the engineer's job.
 
Hmmm. Could it be something to do with the fact that they just blew out the PD and gave his duties to the traffic director? Seemed to be fine before that. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the engineer!

I'm only waxing nostalgic...not blaming the engineer. The greatest radio engineers in the world couldn't stop snowfall.

I'd actually blame many of the companies that own radio stations.

You have cited yet another reason that casts doubt on them! Hopefully, somebody will schedule make goods... :eek:

BTW- Back in the day, the real engineers made the board op sweep the dishes off...
 
I remember many the day that Portelli used to get up on the roof and sweep the satelite dish and before satelite days, would be on the phone with the local phone company making sure that all the right jacks and patches were in place.

Try that today, and you'll miss the feed before you speak with a human....
 
I've done some business with Satelite Man and I gotta' hand it to him. His toll free 800 number is answered by a human being 24 hours a day. I don't know how he does it and the last dish I got from him gives me east coast and west coast feeds in high def. The guy may drive a battered bread truck that looks like it may have gone to Woostock but his service is second to none. What I want to know is...why is the truck always parked in the Juniata area?
 
I'm glad to see that he's back on the board trying to get to the bottom of this Willett/Hoy caper.
