hi everyone i used to live on long island and moved to colorado about a year ago, just curious about the BLI lineup these days both weekday and weekends? anybody got names by any shot and opinions on them? when i was there last they were sounding pretty good compared to other stations on the island.

Rocky Mountain High.........Colorado!
They must have internet service out there I guess, you might want to look up www.wbli.com

The lineup, photos and even a listen here button, its all there!

Monte!

But this might make for good discussion.

WBLI is the most personality driven station that originates from Nassau/Suffolk. They have no voicetracked shifts, and they certainly have the largest on air staff.

With all the shakeups and changes, how is the BLI airstaff doing? Now that Reno and Maria Garcia are out, who are the big stars at WBLI?

Easy answer to that...Steve Harper is still the Morning Guy star, Al Levine is the personality mid day jock/APD and of course we have the wonderful Wendy Wild doing PM drive, and the very lovely LJ Lovely doing nights. They are the station "names," but that's not the whole staff. There still is Orphan Andrew, Slaytor, Dennis The Menace, Ballistic Bob, Matt Goldapper(who returned from Poughkeepsie),Billy Vote and Andre.

WBLI is known for giving their interns a chance to get shifts once they "graduate." That's how LJ, Wendy and Dennis The Menace got on the air! PD JJ Rice and APD Al Levine recognize hard work and talent, and reward people for it. Hey, even I get to be on the air with Al every week, doing phone bits for his "Levine's Lunch Box" request show. Now let's see when he gives me a shift...lol...
______________

Andre came over shortly after Party 105's flip. Astra (also of Party 105) did shortly after that She did a few fill-in shifts. Is she still at the station?
______________

had a chance to listen to bli today online before the stream crapped out and it seems like the weekend staff there is pretty solid with the exception of astra who had a few flops. they all sound good, matt goldapper sounds like rosati at Z and orphan andrew sounds like a young cubby, ya think?

I'm sorry, but I don't see much special with BLI aside from most other mid-sized CHRs. I will admit that it is great to run a station that is live 24/7, and for that, they get big props...

However, music wise and personality wise, it's just like any other middle of the road CHR. Steve is good in the mornings (but obviously needs a counterpart, and I was never a huge fan of Maria)...Al Levine is good quality (should probably still be doign PM Drive). Wendy Wild and LJ Lovely...not bd jocks, but nothing I'm about to start raving about...there's nothing with them that "makes" me want to tune in, something that's very key, especially for a night show. However, this is radio, which is still very male dominated, so females that have decent talent (and don't get me wrong, both do) will get ahead faster than any guy with the same level of talent.

BLI's ratings are quality and the station is solid, but let's be honest, I'm sure I'm not alone in being of the type that I'll listen to Z100 any day until I get too far east...
