WBLK LIVE?

Does anyone out there in Buffalo radio land has any idea when WBLK plans to start broadcasting on the web. And how clear will the audio feed be?

Well, the site does read:

"Soon you will be able to hear WBLK anywhere in the world through our Live Stream.
Keep listening and checking here for details!!! "

How long has it been saying that for?

none of the CBS stations stream live from Buffalo or Rochester as of yet.......which is strange as most CBS stations are starting to stream.

In case you missed it, WBLK is one of the stations that CBS/Infinity is selling to Regent. I doubt that they'll be adding streaming, or any other services that cost money, before Regent takes over.

Regent already streams their stations, so it's likely they'll begin streaming stations in Buffalo soon.

Sooner or Later...

It depends on your definition of "soon". The sale to Regent won't be completed until after the first of the year. Could Regent and CBS/Infinity agree to start streaming sooner? Yes, but I doubt that WBLK would be the first station set up for streaming.

My guess is that WJYE might be first, with "regular" programming offered via web stream after they go "All Christmas" around Thanksgiving. WYRK would be second, since they're the market leader. Then it's a toss-up between WBLK and WBUF (Jack). WBLK has a bigger audience, but Jack may be easier to stream since none of the content is live.

From what we've heard and seen of the ratings, especially in morning drive where WBLK is #2 Persons 25-54 and for a few books now, surpasses all others in AM drive save for cluster mate WYRK, WBLK doesn't seem to need streaming.

THE ENTIRE CLUSTER WILL BE STREAMING WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS!!

The Truth Is....

All this "streaming talk" is nothing short of hype and hoping against hope... really nonsense. Sure, people have computers at work, but have you ever worked in a cubicle farm? Three of my family members work in major banking, insurance and medical firms. At each company, ALL radio station website streaming is locked out. They can access the sites, but not the streaming, no matter what program they choose, Winamp, Windows Media, etc. Companies may not want their employees nibbling away at the pipeline bandwidth. Besides, younger people listen to their own music, whether it's on CD or mp3, while working. One more thing, the political advertising is driving away listeners. The commercials are detestable and the eight, nine and ten minute commercial breaks are poison. Radio. Killing itself again.

Well, I finally have the answer. I looked on the WBLK web site and they claim to be streaming this coming Monday.

That will be great news for those up in Toronto who unfourtunety lost WBLK a couple of years back.

Lost? No. Lost best signal? Yes.
93.7 can be picked up using a TS-2 Antenna in Toronto, but with no stereo signal, and it has a rather AM quality feel to it.
If Flow were to broadcast on 93.7 instead of 93.5, that would be a loss.
Much like the loss of WYRK when the Aboriginal network signed on at 106.5 FM there.

??? Instead of using a company PC, is this an issue that can't be avoided by bringing in their own private Laptop PC?
Is there some sort of interference in the building that jams all internet sources?
