WBLS needs to hire an industry great at night

It's rare that top radio stations conk out at night. By that I mean when you're a top-tier radio station you try to line your schedule with some of the best of the best. WLTW for instance has highly respected industry veteran Karen Carson in the morning who has high respect amongst her peers, and ends the day with Delilah who is indeed an acquired taste but nobody can dispute her overwhelming success and that she is very good at what she does. Q104 starts the day with legend Jim Kerr and ends the day with popular long-timer Carol Miller. It makes no sense then for WBLS not to go with an industry veteran with respect and credibility amongst his colleagues. Steve Harvey, Guy Black, and Wendy Williams are amongst the very peak of their professions who are beloved by the audience, viewed with admiration by everyone in radio, and are extremely skilled at their jobs. It's ridiculous then for them to throw some joe six-pack off the street at night even if the program is more music-intensive. They need to remedy that and bring in a night-time host with experience and respect. I mean you read the bio's of Williams, Harvey, and Black and they list accomplishment after accomplishment. The night-time guy gets only the briefest bio saying he's done saying only that he's been on WBLS for many years and he likes basketball in his spare time.

Any chance Isaac Hayes wants to get back into radio? Hosted a somewhat successful morning show on Kiss before he ended up as one poster put it "babysitting" Tom Joyner (i.e. doing local breaks) and I'm sure that cat doesn't want to go out like that.

Re: Hope your not talking about Vaughn Harper

If so he has worked for WBLS for years. Then they fired him when they tried to go younger and then brought him back when people complained about the new host for the quiet storm. Who knows why his bio is so short, but most Listeners my parents age would tell you in 1 second who the host of the "quiet storm" is.

Now is this the best programming choice. I would say no because both R&B Stations skew to old minus Wendy. I can't believe that no urban programmers care that there are 1000000000 new urban artists that will never get played on any station and create a station for that. Not only would you attract 25+ upper middle class Black listeners, but you might grab people who like the genre and are tired of rap on one channel and luther on the other.
