wbls's friday evening mix show - purposefully scaring of listeners?

Every Friday evening from 5-7, and Saturdays too I think, WBLS does some just awful mix show that sounds like they just picked some guy up of Rogers ave and said to him "play whatever you want for the next two hours, but make sure the transitions are jumpy, the cutting is amateurish, and, for good measure, play an annoying sound effect, like a ships foghorn or something, every forty seconds." And, on top of all that, the jocks get gassed when they sample a little talking heads or police.  First off, "it's alright" the beanie Siegel, I think, track already explored Talking Heads based loops (not to say there aren't ample opportunities for looping old talking Heads songs into rap tracks, but once in a lifetime is not new ground worthy of blowing the foghorn for) .  Secondly, if I want to hear a new wave mix, I'll do what I did in college, drink one too many buds and click the mouse to reposition the player.

Wbls would much better serve the community by doing, in that timeslot, a 75-85 disco show.

I'm not so sure about that. Red Alert's show played good hits, but I would have preferred that all eras were mixed together rather seventies at seven, eighties at eight, and nineties at nine.

It's time for some new blood I think, a mixer who is untainted by the experience of the 80s and the death of limelight and sound factory. But also a mixer who is unmoved by the west12th st scene as well. They need an under 30 disco aficionado to unite the generations.
