I think it's the Hartford Wolfpack fan who listens to games on WTIC-HD2... ::)
 
That would've been like 5 years ago. Few, if any, Connecticut Whale games end up on WCCC-AM 1290 of West Hartford. It probably has about as many listeners! Now you'd be lucky if a Saturday game gets aired by WCCC-FM 106.9.

I had an old piece-of-crap Insignia FM-only HD Radio from Best Buy. Took that thing on a day trip to Brattleboro, VT. WKNE-FM 103.7 of Keene, NH was the only station I could pick up using their HD.
 
Because of the loopholes in the FCC Rules, it would seem now, that the ONLY GOOD USE for HD channels, is to feed analog translators! This, quite literally, gives station owners the ability to program a translator as though it were a local radio station... after all, almost nobody is actually listening to HD channels, so why not just use them as STL's to translators?

Seems like a reasonable plan, and a very handy way to skirt the Rules. ::)
 
Kinda like how CBS bought Channel 55 on Long Island but since it's actually a digital broadcast, and not over the air (Qualcomm bought out the spectrum for Channel 55) it doesn't count toward CBS' media ownership limits...
 
That's actually totally incorrect. CBS owns WLNY 55, which still broadcasts over the air. It didn't effect their ownership of another FM in NYC because the signal contours don't overlap.

Qualcomm doesn't even factor in.
