WBMW - On Kool 101

I just heard a commercial for the Byrnes Agency featuring Teresa Berry and Sean Murphy from the WBMW 106.5 morning show.

... On KOOL 101.

Is the talent pool in New London that shallow?

It is common place everywhere, to hear other stations' talent voicing ads that are sent to a variety of radio stations, including competitors, on a buy. Sometimes clients prefer particular voices or production. This is not new.

You hear Damon Scott in other markets once in a while. Granted, he's not usually ID'ing himself as Damon in those commercials, however.

This is a simple one folks. Client goes to the station, pays the station to produce the ad with their people. The client then buys ad time on the other stations.

However the time about 5 years ago, when Bob's discount furniture had an add for some fundraising thing he was doing, which tagged with a WVIT logo (amongst others), aired at my old station (WWLP) we pulled the ad off for obvious reasons.

I suppose my point is that I rarely hear any examples of jocks on, say, Z-100 in New York City, doing commercials heard on 92.3 Now or other CBS-owned stations in NYC. Now, if said Z-100 jock's ad ran on Lite-FM, that's one thing - all in the "family," so to speak... In other words, you don't often hear such arrangements in larger markets.
