WBMX HD-3 on air - "Psychic Radio"

It's a national channel - "Psychic Radio" - "We KNOW you're listening!" - "Powered by CBS"!

The first time I heard commercials - and LOTS of them - on an HD subchannel (not including the WODS HD-3 WBZ simulcast). All kinds of national commercials for various "businesses" and "alternative health" products... supplements, colon cleansers, etc... fast money internet schemes.. and some of the other more common tacky network spots you always hear on national AM radio...

Programming sounds like the most crass commercial end of "new age" talk, featuring psychics, astrologers, "intuitives", hypnotists, Tarot readers, "alternative healers", etc... and listeners calling in to these practitioners for advice...

Just heard a fast-spoken disclaimer stating that the programming content is "for entertainment only" and "Psychic Radio" is not responsible for any circumstances resulting from anyone acting on "advice" given (or something like that)...

I actually respect, and have occasionally used, some forms of "alternative" healing and therapies... but this channel sounds like mostly contrived hack stuff and shilling (in my opinion)...
 
We had a quick conversation about this in the office today. It caught me by surprise but there may be an audience in Boston for this format. Did you know John Edwards (the Medium, not the politician) sold out several shows in Boston with little or no local marketing? I've always thought Gary Spivey was entertaining on the air.

Are you kidding me? The spots are PI... they only pay for what they can track from a phone number called.

I'm sure HD radio's will be buzzing listening to this..
 
Oh gawd..... more cheap waste of spectrum.......

Which means here in America, I foresee it will probably be successful.

If there's an audience for this format, why don't you have these hosts as guests on your morning show?
