WBNY Channeling The Zone

WBNY has the power of a hamster on a treadmill, but when the wind's blowing right, I can hear the station and check out the latest music from bands not played on other stations, played by DJs who hopefully are majoring in bio-sciences, computer science or economics. That said, the "DJ Typical" promo that aired Tuesday around 5:45 pm caught my attention. The producer and writer deserve a pat on the back. Sounds like he or she grew up listening to Rochester's Zone before it was scuttled.

The Zone is still around...maybe you were thinking of The Nerve? There were some very creative promos/ID's when they launched, mostly aimed at (then-AOR) WCMF.

That's it. Thanks for setting the record straight. Used to listen to them while commuting. "95.1 --- 95.5 The Nerve."

Rusty: WBNY(disclaimer:I spent a few years pulling an on-air shift there when I attended Buffalo State)USED to run at 100 watts. Their power was boosted some time ago to 1,000 watts.

However, I'll agree...some of the spots and promos they run are VERY creative. I have quite a few running in my head that I'd LOVE to see bring to fruition-and no station would be safe from them.

This is the same station that airs a promo stating "we are a student ran (sic) organization." ESL much?

Maybe I could swing by to fire off some promos/spots, etc. (I think the promo in question is one that calls for businesses to be underwriters for the station.)
