WBOS's Latest Tweak

During the past few days I have heard BOS play Aerosmith's "What It Takes", Boston's "More Than A Feeling" and finally Pat Benetar's "We Belong".

Is the station going in a new direction or is Greater Media planning a format change on one of their stations?

Sounds like there's nothing new here. Greater Media has been working some Classic Rock tunes into the WBOS format ever since they bought it.

;)

So I guess if WBOS ever thought of "going back to the disco music of the 70s"---that idea is out?

Today they played Walking On Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.

Again, nothing new here. I've been hearing them play that for a while. WXRV "The River" plays it too. 80's new-wave-ish pop hits have been popular on AAA formats for a number of years now. It's like the "oldies" of their core age group, they throw them in for a little nostalgia for their demo.

one great thing about this board, it's a gallant-free zone.
sadly, his fanclub is still here.

oh, boy, alert allaccess. i think may be we're onto something here.
now that mix 98-5 has buried the 'whatever' thing, maybe someone else is going
all-retro? maybe mike 93-7 is about to become sports 93-7 and simulcast all sports
from wrko and weei. and then wbos will convert to a jockless 'free-fm' clone. yea, yea...that's it. that way they don't need to hire a new program director. we got it. :D

Say what you want, all I know is BOS is playing stuff that AAA doesn't usually play. It might have to do with a new program director (if there is one, I do not know?)

Ok , someone please call me , when WBOS plays something from P.Diddy . Thank You .

They occasionally play Al Green.

If it appeals to a lot of (mainly white) yuppies in their 30's, AAA stations play it. That includes Al Green, 80's pop hits, and some Classic Rock. AAA by definition is supposed to be a wide format, not just their usual contemporary core artists.
