WBOW/WAXI

WAXI has gotten its music from ABC Radio's True Oldies Channel for several years (except the local daparts)

My guess is Crossroads hired a jock or two and gave them a shift on both stations.

Dial Global networks is the answer that you are looking for. If you check that out, it should give you your answer. Will any station in the market try to save a few bucks and put Seacrest on middays or afternoons?

yea I like what I hear on 104.9, but again, the B is way off the mark. I've heard the wayback Thursday show on the B, and to me that sounds more what the B should be doing. Just my thoughts.

Both stations are now on the Dial Global network for voicetracking out-of-market. They have no live local jocks on WAXI, and only one *Julie* on WBOW. Both stations are programmed out-of-market as well, and the two programmers, who are still on staff, have been relugated to other positions. I understand that Party Marty was programming WAXI, but he is now programming just the Crock, while Adam Michaels is back in production.

As for the sound of the stations, I have always liked WAXI, except during that weird transition period a few years ago, and they continue to sound pretty much the same. Now the B, on the other hand, sounds a lot better now as far as the music is concerned. Adam had taken it WAAAAY too CHR and it's now back to being an AC station. As for Throwback Thursday, you can't expect much more from Julie than a flashback show. She's not at home unless she's playing ABBA and the Bee Gees.

I think the management at Crossroads may have finally made a good decision in getting rid of the local programming (especially on WBOW) and letting the pros handle it, instead of putting the job into the hands of any person who happens to be in the building at the time.

I think in this market, it would be a bad idea to put Seacrest on any station. The only two that stand out to me as possibilities are Mix and WBOW. Mix doesn't need the hoopla, they're doing just fine without him (they beat WBOW every time in the books). As for WBOW, I think it would be a mistake to replace the only live local jock they have with Ryan Seacrest. He might sound better, but they lose their local coverage.

WAXI hasn't had True Oldies in several years. They have been programmed locally (except for the Harvey Show in the overnights) for at least the last 6 years. Sorry, but I had to correct your mistake.

Hm... I was almost certain they went to True Oldies at WAXI when WSDM flipped to the Crock 3 years ago. But WAXI is not a station I listen regularly to, so correction duly noted.

They were ture oldies after the flip but it didn't last very long. Crossroads should have NEVER gave up ABC on WSDM! Now WAXI is playing a better variety of music, but with no personalities. And now the Crock from what I heard this evening is going to have ESPN's Mike & Mike on in the morinings starting Nov. 3rd and also will be carring all the ISU lady basketball games with Brett Hall, who crossroads fired sometime ago on ESPN. Maybe the Crock is leaning to become the new ESPN in the Terre Haute market?

I heard that as a possibility a few months ago, but it was dependent upon something--anything--happening to the AM's. Now, there's been talk of a (no pun intended) talk format creeping its way into Crossroads, but from what I heard, they're wanting to do that on the Crock. So who knows what these people are doing? Even if they do something like this, it won't be for quite a while and it's going to be highly publicized. Management there may not know how to run a radio station, but they're certainly fond of seeing their pictures on TV.
