WBPM in late 80s

I listened to 94.3 for many years in the late 80s, as WBPM and later B-94. I've been trying to remember who did mornings around then, say 1988ish, prior to Carl Dayton. I seem to remember Robin Taylor, Lou Brown, Jeff Allen, and Mike Vincent from those days, but who was doing mornings?

I remember B94 since I was in Anderson School at the time back in the early to mid-90's, Carl Dayton was doing mornings on the station. I've never listen to that station since the late 80's, but I do remember CJ (who is now doing mornings on Kiss-FM as "CJ's Playhouse"), Lou Brown (now works at one of the Lite-FM's at 92.1 & 99.3) and a number of other jocks over the years before it became "Rhythm 94.3" and then "Cool 94.3", "Kicks 94.3" and now "The Wolf". As of right now, "The Wolf" continues to do poorly competing aganist WRWD as the #1 country station.

BRING BACK DANCE

Since it is doing very poorly in the radio market, they should bring back dance and with better mix shows. The Mid-Hudson Valley has a club scene and dance would be a major fit back in there.

Dont worry about Kiss 96.1, they are urban leaning and that's where they are staying.

BRING BACK DANCE!!!

If you look "Kiss" in other markets, they had CHR running, but as for Poughkeepsie, not. You should checked their playlist on another "Kiss" station, 102.3:

If Kiss is still urban leaning, the station will soon to be become Power 96.1: Today's Hip-Hop & R&B.

'I've been trying to remember who did mornings around then, say 1988ish, prior to Carl Dayton."

I'm not sure but didn't Tom Williams do mornings on WBPM then ?

I remember Carl Dayton on B94 back in the early 90's right up until the format change in 1999 as "Rhythm 94.3". What other B94 jocks used to do afternoons like Lou Brown and CJ? Right now, CJ is still doing mornings on "Kiss" as "CJ's Playhouse" and Lou Brown was on one of the Lite-FM's like 92.1 and 99.3. What year did CJ and Lou Brown used to do afternoons on the old WBPM's B94?

Wow, No one remembers

Tom Williams - and Chris Barnes doing news

Robyn Taylor
Jeff Allen

BILL CARROLL

And Mike Vincent overnights

Then it was Carl Dayton Mornings
Downtown Lou Brown - Mid-days
MATT MICHAELS - PM Drive
CJ doing the Night Show - [EDIT]

[EDIT=possible slander. need to provide a factual resource for such comments]

I seem to remember Mike Vincent doing Mid-Days....no? I just remember his sign off 'Ciao for now' and then I also thought Matt Michaels was on 7-midnight. Oh, well. It was so long ago.

You make no sense...Kiss is a Rythmic CHR, it reports to R&R that way and if anything, it's shares more titles with K104 than it does with any urban station.

Do you just make this stuff up?
If it became an urban, it will change it's name to Power? What?????

IMHO, this area could use a classic dance music station- 70's-80's-90's stuff..this would be great for listening at work, etc and appeals to a broad range of demos...right now there's nothing other than the lites. Somebody's missing the boat here.... ;D

BTW, I gave Lou Brown the name "downtown Lou Brown" when I worked with him at 98 FaMe in poughkeepsie in the 80's!!! Great guy to work with, great talent!!!

Cheers

I know what you're saying, I was just making that up in my personal dream. It would be like the next Power 105 in New York City.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading about wbpm in the 80's.

My wife, Jean, and I spent a great deal of time running the station until 1999 and sold it. We really enjoyed it.

It is nice to see that our efforts are remembered.

actually, his name is Thom Williams. He was doing mornings at WBPM untill about 1987 and afterwards moved down to West Virginia. I last spoke to him around 97 letting him know of a morning opening at WKNY post Ward Todd. Thom was pretty bitter about Kingston and the Hudson Valley in gen'l and had no interest to even send an aircheck. As far Chris Barnes, he was one funny dude. Does anyone know where he is nowadays?

after thom williams there was rick busser(sorry about the spelling),then barry(forgot his last name)came on board from long island and finally carl dayton when barry left.all this happened between 87-89.all this time i did mostly mid-days on wghq. those where fun days at those 2 stations.i always look back on them w/a smile. walter due you remember the it's 80 degrees promotion?gave away a bottle of pepsi when the temp hit 80 degrees in kingston or free album friday's(i told wayne fisk, then the pd about this promotion).beefee m/boo bye as jeff allen would say!
