WBRE Weekend Sports

Did anyone see Matt Parks Saturday night. All I can say is "Ouch!" Actually, the words I used I will not post. Excuse me, the toilet is flushing. Yes, I know, he is only a fill-in. The bar has been placed on the ground.

The entire situation over at WBRE/WYOU is laughable. It's at the point really where it's not even funny anymore. The company that ran that place into the ground is a complete joke. There are some decent people left at 22/28...but the management sucks. Believe me, I was a victim over there. That's why I got out. They don't want to bring anyone with any experience, because Nexstar is afraid they would have to pay them something reasonable. They are just bringing in rookies for next to no money at all. Look at WBRE's new weather girl...a rookie with no experience. She should be working in Great Falls, Montana instead of Wilkes-Barre. It's a joke.

I did and it was quite painful. Yonkstur

April? I think she's ok; not as good as others there, but new at being on camera and improving steadily. IMO.

I agree, April has made slow but steady progress. In the beginning she tried so hard not to say "Um" all the time that she would have been better saying it. But she seems to be getting a little better and she's starting to grow on me. There also seems to be good chemistry between Joe Holden and April in the mornings. They're relatively new to WBRE and they seem to get along good, at least from a viewer's perspective. Obviously that is only temporary as Dia Wallace will be returning eventually.

And the weekend sports guy does need some work. He's got the right kind of voice for sports but he definitely needs some practice. We'll see how he does over the next few months (if WBRE intends to keep him on the air for the time being, that is).

I think it may be just a little smoothness sort of thing. The first time I watched him, I thought, "cro-magnon," but then I realized I was comparing him to Jason Knapp, a smooth pro (who did the pro's last show and goodbye). But the second time around, I saw he knows his stuff and, with a better haircut --I should talk-- should fit in fine. I was surprised, however, that he missed reporting on the football player's game-halting injury; perhaps he assumed that we all saw it and wasn't able to get tape and story together in time. Still...

OK, so April is slowly improving. That's good. I'm glad to hear that. However, it's still a joke that she's on the air in market #54. WBRE is her first on-air job. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is not a starter's market. But I guess it's becoming one, since Sook the Schnook is hiring wet-behind-the-ears rookies. It's a shame that a once respectable market like Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is being run like Market #154 instead of #54.
