WBRU Application

WBRU has an application before the FCC to move its antenna to Johnston, increase antenna height, and install a directional antenna. The pattern map shows about the same signal towards Boston, but undoubtedly will provide a stronger signal in areas now covered plus Bristol County, Mass.

WBRU is a good station. They are so good that Major radio corporations have wanted to get their hands on the station and purchase it for years. But those dudes at Brown just refuse to sell. That is probably a good thing.

WBRU is os probably one of the best stations on the air simply because The BIG Companies CC, Citadel etc. dont have thier greedy paws on it.
Here's why its programed by the same people who listin to it. What a concept.

I mean college kids programming for college kids.

Cookie cutter radio.

Uh no.WBRU isn't programmed by college kids. They have a PD hired from the outside and that's been the case as long as I remember. As far as programming for college kids they don't get diaries so WBRU's numbers aren't the result of out of town students getting diaries.

Well WBRU is programmed by a former student DJ, and I believe that two current DJs act as assistant program directors.

Regarding the new antenna, why is there such a null toward the north-northwest, toward Worcester? I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what station in the 95s is in central or north-central Mass.

now here's the question, will a PD seeing BRU AM and PM drive with good numbers wanna hire me?–?–

Maybe 96.1 WORC in Worcester I believe are the calls

The correct calls for 96.1 in Worcester are WSRS. The new 'BRU setup on Neutaconkanut Hill will be 32 kW from a height of 613' on the WPRO-FM tower. WBRU will replace the the WSBE antenna on top of the tower when Channel 36 shuts down its analog operations. The new antenna will protect WZID 95.7 Manchester NH.WBRU has short spacing agreements with WHRB Cambridge and WKSS Hartford.
Short-spacings to WSRS Worcester and WYJB Albany are grandfathered. This info. is from today's NorthEast Radio Watch by Scott Fybush.
