WBRU Suggestions

Now, before I start, let me say that I am a fan of WBRU. In fact, WBRU may be the last glimmer of hope in Providence radio (WCTK is really a New Bedford station). That being said, I have two suggestions for making the station better:

1. When talking up the intros to songs, have the intro to the song be audible. There have been countless times that I hear the jock talking, introducing a song or whatever, and then suddenly the song starts right at the beginning of the vocals. In fact, it happened this morning when the jock, I don't know her name, talked up Muse' "Starlight." Give the intro of the song some volume, so at least if I don't care for what the jock is say, I know that everything will be OK because I hear the intro to a song from the Killers in the background.

2. Speaking of jock delivery... S L O W D O W N. Several jocks have the problem of talking to fast and end up tripping over or slurring words. I don't want to listen to 95-5 WBLULULULRRLU. THis is especially true when there's an event or concert I'd like to know about, but I miss some information because I can't understand what the hell you're saying!

Oh, and stop playing Three Days Grace. They're not alternative. Glad you're not playing Creed anymore, that's a good first step.

Not get to it, Mr. Donni Khan!

Regards,
Jack

Jacko, I am surprised with you.Normally I agree with you but on WBRU.
Yes, WBRU is probably the only hope in Providence for a True Radio Station. They are Students who put thier heart into what they are doing rather than a bunch of Clowns acting like they know something (C.C and Citadel Brass come to mind).

Now for a station that is is operated by Students WBRU does agreat job. I listen to WBRU at work right now and I expect some stumbling of words and not a smooth V/O. I do think someone (a teacher or whatever) goes over the Airchecks with these kids and piont out where improvement is neccersary.

WBRU is fine and any tweaks of the music probably comes from thier own students.

Jacko this is not a slam.

I think it's easy to forget that WBRU is a college station simply because it's not below 92 on the dial. But the fact is that these are all students learning their craft. Some are better than others. If you don't like WBRU than you need to ask yourself if you would be happier with a cookie cutter station? Personally I think BRU does a decent job. They arn't perfect, but they really don't have to be. It's basically a training ground with a real good dial position!

I'm with you. Anything beats yet another cookie-cutter format in Providence. Leave 'BRU just the way it is. Sure, it's not my "cup of tea" mind you. But it serves a purpose. The market needs a good alt-rock FM'er. WBRU fits the bill rather nicely.

But PULEEEZE, no "Buddy FM" this year! ;)
