WBRX-FM

I haven't been back to Altoona for quite a while, maybe 2 years, but know they switched to the Jones AC format. I checked out the WBRX.COM website and they have it directed to the Jones affiliate site, nothing local. Can anyone tell me if they have anyone live locally yet for announcing or news or are they just running straight bird?

Haven't heard it lately (cant get it in State College) but last I did they have a local morning show (Caleb James is back) and the rest is straight off the bird. Its a real shame because it seems like a super idea but to be honest the Jones programming seems to be very, very weak. Looking at what they've done with the Q I can't believe they wouldn't or couldn't do it better locally by hiring a PD and programming the thing on their own. Add to that the fact that its powered by the folks behind WRTA and they already have access to whatever they need to handle local news updates, weather, etc.

I think it will fare ok because Altoona has been without an AC outlet for so long but WALY has also slowly drifted into that position over the years and remains quite strong too. I don't think BRX will truly stand a chance at doing anything great as long as they are just blaring the bird.
