WBT Co-channel interference this morning

Don't know about the gospel station but last week when they were switching morning patterns I heard KFAB on 1110 as clear as a bell.
There are times at night when you can actually pick up WTAM on 1100 out of Cleveland and they sound louder then WBT.

When I lived in FL I used to listen to WBT and Bay Minette was sometimes a problem. I don't think it was these stations except KFAB as it was booming in strong. However the station in Norfolk on 1110 is 50 kw, I wonder if their DA was off or being adjusted at that time. It did fade out by 8:00 Sun a.m.
I haven't listened to AM at night lately but that has been true for me. At 70 miles during critical hours, WBT's skywave signal and groundwave signal may have been in the cancellation zone. So the WBT signal might have been weaker than usual at that particular place and time. Measurements with an accurate field strength meter will provide all sorts of variations at that distance from day to day, hour to hour and minute to minute.
WYRM in Norfolk, VA is not too far from my location in NE NC, I get them during the day. They are a religious station with 50 kW directional. It may have been their signal that you heard override the WBT signal for a brief time period. I guess WYRM was about 250 miles from you at the time if you were 70 miles north of Charlotte. It does not take a lot of power heading that way for one station to override the other station at certain distances and times of day around sunrise and sunset. I don't have a clue whether WYRM's antenna array is in proper adjustment but they could have interfered with WBT at 70 miles with their antenna in perfect agreement with their FCC license.

Whether my car radio is really bad or something is seriously wrong with this station's signal. In past years I could hear this station in Bennettsville. I couldn't hear a word of what Rush Limbaugh was saying east of Wadesboro. Hey, wait, that's actually a good thing.
