WBT - Randall Bloomquist

I've never really been a daily, consistent listener to WBT. I've lived in Morganton all of my 39 years and while I've gotten a decent WBT daytime signal--we're on the fringe of the night null, but 99.3 is fairly listenable--I've never been a diehard WBT fan. However, that doesn't mean I'm not in awe of its heritage, nor am I unfamilar with the great personalites who've graced its airwaves: HA Thompson, Ty Boyd, Bob Lacey, Don Russell, Mike Collins, Henry Boggan. WBTV was the station I grew up with and which was in an era--the 70s and 80s--when such broadcast arrangements(WBTV-WBT) shared talent. Do these two stations "share" anyone these days? It seems WBTV, WBT, and WLNK want to be as independent of each other as possible. I wonder if the "neighbors" even speak to each other as they pass in the halls or in the rest rooms at 1 Julian Price Place? I've had a great deal of nostalgia about the "good old days" at WBT ever since the recent passing Henry Boggan. I didn't get to hear the actual broadcast of his tribute, but I ordered a CD copy from WBT--well worth the money. With this tribute, the WBT airwaves were again filled with some great voices of the past. It was sad listening, not just of Mr Boggan's passing, but of those voices no longer regularly heard on WBT. Though, I do believe Don Russell currently has a weekend morning show. And, I had seen this post from May about Randall Bloomquist but honestly didn't remember his "contribution" to WBT. From Internet searches, I now see that HE is the one who unravelled some great WBT heritage back in 1997. Given some Charlotte Business Journal articles I found, he seems pretty arrogant and self-gratifying about it, too:http://www.bizjournals.com/charlott...rlotte/stories/2000/09/25/editorial1.htmlDoes anyone know how WBT's ratings fared in the mid 90s, then after Mr Bloomquist cleaned house at WBT? Was BT really doing that badly?
