WBTF construction permit.

I have read that WBTF still has a construction permit to move the antenna closer to Lexington and then this permit was cancelled. I've also heard they were moving to 107.5 with 25,000 watts depending on the other station being able to move up the dial that use that frequency. Just wanted to know how long I'm going to have to listen to WBTF and WWAG fight it out where I live.

The CP you speak of was granted. And for some reason an application for the exact same CP was filed on the ninth of this month stipulating the frequency change to 107.9. How long it takes the FCC to act on applications depends. I have seen them act as soon as 90 days. Others it took them over six months.
 
Thank you kyscott for your quick response. I called the station a litle while ago and they said the signal would be dramatically better in my area when they begin using the new transmitter.

No problem. Right now the transmitter is off of Craig Lane near Georgetown. The CP looks like they are going to move it off of Lexington Road in/near Versailles. Just about 10 miles south of where it is now.

They haven't filed for 107.5. (Yet, but that might be possible.)

The CP to move it to the new location was granted some time ago. They filed again this month with a different antenna, but everything else looks the same to me. Probably at the last minute they decided to change antenna manufacturers.

You don't need to file for a new CP just by changing antenna manufactures. The only reason you'd need to do that is if you changed the element spacing, center of radiation height or directional. Comparing the two applications, they are proposing the same half wave spaced, directional ERI antenna. It is directional to protect WWAG down in McKee. in fact, looking at the application for both side by side, I don't see any differences. Same tower, same antenna, same pattern. May have been something in the administrative section which I usually skip over when reading these things.

Well, since it's directional I think you do need to file for a new CP if you change antennas in any way, because the pattern study has to be submitted to the Commission.

Their CP says the antenna ID is 66204. Their new application has the antenna ID as 79838.
 
I'll be glad when something happens as 107.9 WWAG is absolutely putting the breaks on 107.9 WBTF here in Danville.
