WBTF sound quality.

Has anyone who listens to WBTF noticed how awful they sound lately? The highs are flat and the bass rumbles on like the station is way over-modulated. Someone who knows who to contact should inform them of this.

They sound better than WLTO HOT 102 I think. Sounds as if there is an echo when someone talks.

I've noticed it. It's awful and must be fixed or they will lose listeners. This isn't good for their high reputation here in the metro area.

They have pulled in some decent numbers for a station of their "caliber". Do they not have "VU" meters and can see their audio is in the "red"? At this point Groovin 1580 sounds better and it certainly has much more signal at my zip.

If 1580 is sounding that good, I might have to drive down there!

Don't do it at night as that 27watt night-time signal doesn't work very well!!

1580 will soon be changing its format.

Ignor that comment. I meant 1570.

I wouldn't be suprised if 1580 didn't flip. They've tried EVERYTHING from country to hip-hop and even sports.

IN referece to Hot 102, I think they sound great. The reason they Echo is because they use Reverb like alot of the stations in the 80s used. It makes the music sound wider, and gives the station better sound quality in the fringe area's, since Hot 102 has a pretty weak signal compared to stations like 104.5, 98.1, and 92.9.

As for WBTF, they play Hip Hop, which is Bass heavy, most Rap fans like alot of bass without much treble, it probably makes the station Bump alot harder in the Boom cars with souped up sub woofers and amps. Im sure The Beat isnt gonna lose any listeners due to having more bass and less treble, their youth target audience isnt audio philes anyway. Young Rap Fans like alot of Bass, they dont care about dynamic range. Also, having more Bass and Less treble makes the static in the metro alot less noticable, the more treble you have, the more Hiss you get, and WBTF has probably the weakest FM in Lex,, You can drive 17 miles down the road to Richmond and you lose the signal.

Of course many of those "young rap fans" probably have media players anyway. Also less treble on the audio doesn't magically eliminate static.
