Whats going on with the construction permit on this station?? WWAG is killing WBTF around here lately. I can hear it underneath and swapping out with WBTF even in the Hamburg area!! There is no signal to the south towards Richmond as WWAG wipes it out completely or swaps back and forth. Ive called the station numerous times for info. All they say is that its in the works. The tower is already there so whats the problem??

WBTF has had a CP to move to the old WJMM tower on Versailles Rd near the Woodford/Fayette County Line for several years now. WJMM's studios are still at that location. Some time ago, I asked the CE at WJMM what is going on with Lynn's CP for WBTF moving to the old WJMM tower. He told me that "nothing was happening". I believe Lynn actually bought that tower when he bought 92.1, now WBVX and 106.3--WJMM's Old Frequency from Mortenson Broadcasting about 12 years ago. I was working part time down the hall at WCGW when all that happened.

Just another sad example of our numerous crappy Class-A's that don't make it 20 miles outside of LEX. WBTF moving to old WJMM tower would only boost the signal (only a little bit) downtown and on the east side of town near Hamburg and Athens. Richmond wouldn't really get a better signal. Neither would Winchester, Danville, etc.

WBTF may or may not improve if/when they make this change. When you operate non-directionally, the antenna mounting on the tower can be tweaked to maximize the signal in certain directions. A mere 3db bump in the desired direction could equal 12KW ERP where it counts. While the CP allows them to move closer in, as pointed out the improvement is not breathtaking, plus any undocumented boost they now enjoy will evaporate when they go directional. And at the end of the day, a 60dbu signal downtown produces marginal building penetration anyway so whatever the format of this station is, it will probably do best aimed at a car radio audience anyway. For example, this signal will never be "Lexington's At Work Station".

Doesn't it fit better on that K Love tower (Brannon Crossings)?

The Brannon Road site might be too close to WWAG-107.9 and WKYN-107.7.

I went looking for WWAG on Radio-Locator and found it was not listed at the request of the owner of WWAG !!! I've never heard of that before. Anyway, I think the Brannon Rd. tower site would be too close to allow for a WBTF antenna relocation based on this coverage map I did find on the net for WWAG:

The Brannon site is in Northern Jessamine County, South of Lexington.
