Bennington’s only all-volunteer radio station has gone dark for the first time in its long history after a lack of funding and community support led to an unpaid electric bill and an uncertain future.
Radio World just linked to this story. Maybe they should go online-only and ditch the overhead of running an AM/FM radio station from an aging facility.
WBTN needs a tiny amount of support monthly. There's something happening: either the programming is terrible or there is nobody here that understands how to bring money into the station. Maybe the board should look at a revamp or a search for a person who can sell. I understand they are non-profit but still commercial.
May be a situation of too many 'cooks' who had good intentions, but knew very little to nothing about how a operate a radio station.. ?? WBTN is the only station that 'super-served' Bennington. Hope they can regroup and figure it out.
Looking at the schedule on their website, it appears to be block programmed with programming similar to what a college station would air. Not sure how much appeal this would have outside a rather limited audience.
Website shows 2 different morning shows...the home page says Mike & Mike, while if you click on "schedule" it's Moose & The Morning Revolution.
